AI Usage in Manuscript Preparation Policy

Jurnal Eksergi recognizes that generative artificial intelligence (AI) tools can support authors in manuscript preparation. While these tools may improve efficiency and language quality, the responsibility for the accuracy, originality, integrity, and scientific validity of submitted work remains entirely with the authors.

This policy establishes guidelines for the ethical and transparent use of AI in accordance with the principles of research integrity, publication ethics, and best practices in scholarly publishing.

Permitted Uses of AI

Authors may use AI tools (e.g., ChatGPT, Claude, Copilot, Gemini, Grammarly, DeepL, or similar technologies) for:

  • Grammar, spelling, and language improvement

  • Translation and language refinement

  • Formatting assistance

  • Code assistance and debugging

  • Literature summarization and brainstorming

All AI-generated outputs must be carefully reviewed, verified, and edited by the authors before submission.

Prohibited Uses of AI

Authors must not:

  • List AI tools as authors or co-authors

  • Use AI to fabricate, manipulate, or falsify data, results, references, images, or conclusions

  • Submit AI-generated content without human verification

  • Delegate scientific interpretation, critical analysis, or research conclusions entirely to AI

  • Use AI in ways that violate copyright, confidentiality, or research ethics

Any misuse of AI may result in manuscript rejection, retraction, or other editorial actions.

AI Disclosure Requirement

Authors must disclose any use of generative AI in manuscript preparation. The disclosure should be included in the Acknowledgments section or under a separate “AI Usage Statement.”

The statement should include:

  • Name of the AI tool used

  • Purpose of its use

  • Confirmation that the authors reviewed and take full responsibility for the manuscript content

Example:

"ChatGPT (OpenAI) was used to improve grammar and language clarity in the manuscript. All outputs were reviewed and verified by the authors, who take full responsibility for the final content."

If no AI tools were used, authors may state:

"No generative AI tools were used in the preparation of this manuscript."

Reviewers and Editors

To maintain confidentiality and integrity of the peer-review process:

  • Reviewers and editors must not upload unpublished manuscripts or confidential materials to AI platforms.

  • Peer-review reports must be prepared using independent human judgment.

  • AI tools must not be used to generate reviewer recommendations or editorial decisions.

Accountability

Authors remain fully accountable for:

  • Accuracy of information and citations

  • Originality of the manuscript

  • Compliance with ethical standards

  • Any content generated or modified using AI tools

AI tools cannot assume responsibility for scholarly work and therefore cannot be recognized as authors.

Policy Updates

As AI technologies continue to evolve, Jurnal Eksergi reserves the right to revise and update this policy to reflect emerging ethical standards, technological developments, and publishing best practices.
