Article Retraction & Withdrawal
Article Retraction and Withdrawal Policy
1. Article Retraction Policy
The editorial board of the Journal of Mechanical Engineering and Applied Technology (JMEAT) adheres to the guidelines established by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) regarding article retraction.
An article may be retracted under the following circumstances:
- Evidence of unreliable findings due to misconduct (e.g., data fabrication, falsification) or honest error (e.g., miscalculation, experimental error).
- Plagiarism or redundant publication.
- Ethical breaches in the research or publication process.
- Unauthorized use of data or materials.
Retraction Process:
- The corresponding author will be notified and given an opportunity to respond to the concerns raised.
- The editorial board will review the evidence and, if warranted, issue a formal retraction notice.
- The retraction notice will be published in the journal, linked to the original article, and clearly marked as “Retracted.”
- The original article will remain accessible, but watermarked as "Retracted" to maintain the scholarly record
2. Article Withdrawal Policy
Authors may request a withdrawal of their article under the following conditions:
- Before Peer Review: Authors may request withdrawal by sending an official email to the editorial office. Withdrawal is typically approved unless misconduct is suspected.
- After Peer Review / Before Publication: Withdrawal requests must include valid reasons. Repeated withdrawals by the same authors may result in sanctions.
- After Publication: Articles cannot be withdrawn after formal publication. Any post-publication issues must be resolved through a retraction or correction process.
To request withdrawal, authors must send a signed letter explaining the reason to:

- Include the party initiating the action (author/editor/publisher).
- Be linked to the original article where possible.
4. Sanctions for Misconduct
Authors found to have committed serious publication misconduct may be subject to:
- A temporary or permanent ban from submitting to JMEAT.
- Notification to the authors' institutions or funding agencies.
