Authorship Criteria

Authorship Criteria

1. General Authorship Provisions

Jurnal Hilirisasi Technology kepada Masyarakat (SITECHMAS) implements an authorship policy to ensure that every individual listed as an author has made an accountable scholarly contribution. Authorship reflects intellectual contributions to research and the preparation of scholarly works, rather than merely academic qualifications, structural positions, institutional affiliations, or administrative support.

Authorship must be determined transparently, fairly, and with the agreement of all contributing parties. All authors are responsible for the integrity of the submitted and published article.

2. Authorship Requirements

Individuals listed as authors must meet all of the following criteria:

  1. Make a substantial contribution to the conception or design of the research, data collection, analysis, or interpretation of research findings.

  2. Participate in drafting the manuscript or critically revising its scholarly content.

  3. Approve the final version of the manuscript to be published.

  4. Agree to be accountable for the integrity of the work and assist in resolving questions concerning the accuracy or validity of any part of the research.

Individuals who only provide funding, research facilities, administrative assistance, language editing, or general supervision without meeting the authorship criteria are not automatically entitled to be listed as authors. Such contributions may be acknowledged in the Acknowledgments section with the consent of the relevant parties.

3. Author Contributions and Order

Each author must provide accurate information about their contributions. Jurnal Hilirisasi Technology kepada Masyarakat (SITECHMAS) encourages the use of the Contributor Roles Taxonomy (CRediT), including conceptualization, methodology, investigation, data curation, formal analysis, writing (original draft), writing (review and editing), supervision, and funding acquisition.

The order of authors must be determined by agreement among all authors and based on their scholarly contributions. The journal does not determine author order based on academic degrees, positions, seniority, or institutional status.

4. Corresponding Author

The corresponding author is responsible for:

  1. Submitting the article through the Open Journal Systems (OJS).

  2. Ensuring that all authors have approved the manuscript submission.

  3. Communicating information about the peer review process, revisions, and editorial decisions to all authors.

  4. Ensuring the accuracy of author identities, institutional affiliations, email addresses, and article metadata.

  5. Coordinating the resolution of questions concerning research integrity before and after publication.

The corresponding author is not the only party responsible for the quality and integrity of the article. This responsibility rests with all authors according to their respective contributions.

5. Changes in Authorship

Requests to add, remove, or change the order of authors after manuscript submission must be submitted to the editor in writing, accompanied by a justifiable explanation and the consent of all relevant authors.

Changes to authorship after an article has been published may only be made through the appropriate editorial procedures, including the publication of a correction notice when necessary.

6. Prohibited Authorship Practices

Jurnal Hilirisasi Technology kepada Masyarakat (SITECHMAS) does not accept the following practices:

  • Gift or Honorary Authorship: Listing an individual as an author without a qualifying scholarly contribution.

  • Ghost Authorship: Omitting an individual who actually meets the authorship criteria.

  • Authorship Manipulation: Illegitimately altering the author list or author order for a particular purpose.

  • Misrepresentation of Author Information: Using false author identities, institutional affiliations, or contribution statements.

Suspected authorship misconduct will be addressed through clarification and investigation in accordance with the journal's publication ethics policy and the guidelines of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).

7. Use of Artificial Intelligence Technology

Generative artificial intelligence tools cannot be listed as authors because they cannot fulfill the requirements for academic accountability. Authors remain responsible for all content generated or assisted by such tools.

The use of artificial intelligence that substantially influences the research writing or analysis process must be disclosed transparently in accordance with the journal's requirements.

This policy applies to all manuscripts submitted to Jurnal Hilirisasi Technology kepada Masyarakat (SITECHMAS).
