Validitas Persamaan Reynolds Terhadap Efek Inersia dan Slip dalam Pemodelan Pelumasan Hidrodinamik pada Permukaan Parallel Bearing Bertekstur
Abstract
Thrust bearing merupakan komponen yang sangat penting pada elemen mesin untuk menahan beban aksial saat mesin sedang berputar. Berbagai rekayasa telah dilakukan untuk mendapatkan performa pelumasan yang terbaik. Saat ini, tekstur pada thrust bearing telah dikembangkan pada sistem pelumasan hidrodinamik. Modifikasi permukaan berupa pelapisan hidrofobik juga dapat memberikan dampak pada performa pelumasan hidrodinamik. Metode penyelesaian yang digunakan menjadi perlu dikaji secara lebih mendalam karena efek inersia yang terjadi pada aliran pelumasan. Pada penelitian ini, validitas modifikasi persamaan Reynolds dibandingkan dengan penyelesaian menggunakan persamaan Navier-Stokes yang mengakomodir adanya inersia. Pendekatan computational fluid dynamic (CFD) juga digunakan dalam pengujian ini. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pada konfigurasi Re = 0,280 dan λ = 250 tanpa menerapkan slip, efek yang diperoleh terhadap load support tidak terlalu berarti. Hal ini menunjukkan bahwa kedua persamaan dapat digunakan untuk kondisi ini. Akan tetapi terjadi perbedaan nilai load support yang signifikan yaitu sebesar 5,456% ketika slip dan inersia diterapkan. Maka, pada kondisi tersebut, persamaan N-S sangat dianjurkan untuk digunakan
