Peer Review Process
Articles submitted to Journal of Mechanical Engineering and Applied Technology (JMEAT) go through two stages of review, namely pre-review and review of substance.
Pre-review of the article is carried out by the editorial team to see if the article fits the focus and scope of the journal as well as the style and specific guidelines for writing Journal of Mechanical Engineering and Applied Technology (JMEAT). Checking for elements of plagiarism is done through a search on Google Scholar and Turnitin. The length of time for pre-review is between 1-4 weeks.
Substance reviews are carried out by at least 2 review partners in a double-blind manner. The length of time for review is between 3-8 weeks. If desired, the reviewer can request a re-review after the author has revised the article.
The decision whether to accept an article for publication in Journal of Mechanical Engineering and Applied Technology (JMEAT) is the authority of the Editor-in-Chief based on the recommendation of the reviewers. Articles that have been declared accepted and have gone through layout editing will be published in In-Progress number in the next number before the regular number is published according to the schedule so that it can be indexed and Citable immediately.
Open Access Policy
This journal provides immediate open access to its content on the principle that making research freely available to the public supports a greater global exchange of knowledge.
Archiving
This journal utilizes the LOCKSS system to create a distributed archiving system among participating libraries and permits those libraries to create permanent archives of the journal for purposes of preservation and restoration. More...
Publication Ethics and Publication Malpractice Statement
Journal of Mechanical Engineering and Applied Technology (JMEAT) is a reviewed journal published by the Department of Mechanical Engineering, Semarang State Polytechnic. This statement describes the ethical behavior of all parties involved in the process of publishing an article in this journal, including the author, chief editor, editorial board, reviewers and publisher. This statement is based on the Best Practice Guidelines for COPE Journal Editors.
Ethical Guidelines for Journal Publication
The publication of an article in the peer-reviewed Journal of Mechanical Engineering and Applied Technology (JMEAT) is an important building block in the development of a coherent and recognized knowledge network. This is a direct reflection of the quality of the work of the authors and the institutions that support them. The reviewed articles support and embody the scientific method. Therefore, it is important to agree on standards of expected ethical behavior for all parties involved in the act of publishing: authors, journal editors, reviewers, publishers and the public.
Politeknik Negeri Semarang Department of Mechanical Engineering as the publisher of the Mechanical Engineering Journal takes the task of maintaining all stages of publishing very seriously and we are aware of our ethics and other responsibilities. We are committed to ensuring that advertising, reprint or other commercial revenue does not impact or influence editorial decisions. In addition, Semarang State Polytechnic's Department of Mechanical Engineering and the Editorial Board will assist in communication with other journals and/or publishers, where this is useful and necessary.
Publication Decision
The Editor of Journal of Mechanical Engineering and Applied Technology (JMEAT) is responsible for deciding which submitted articles should be published. The validation of the work and its importance to researchers and readers should always drive those decisions. Editors may be guided by the policies of the journal's editorial board and limited by applicable legal provisions, such as defamation, copyright infringement and plagiarism. Editors may confer with other editors or reviewers in making this decision.
Aspects of Justice
The editors at all times evaluate manuscripts for the intellectual content of the authors without regard to the race, gender, sexual orientation, religious beliefs, ethnicity, nationality, or political views of the authors.
Confidentiality
The editor and any editorial staff must not disclose any information about submitted manuscripts to anyone other than the author, reviewers, prospective reviewers, other appropriate editorial boards, and publisher, as appropriate.
Disclosure and Conflict of Interest
Unpublished material in a submitted manuscript may not be used in the editor's own research without the written consent of the author.
Reviewer Task
Contribution to Editorial Decisions
Bestari partners assist editors in making editorial decisions and can assist authors in improving the quality of manuscripts through the editor.
Speed
Any selected reviewers who feel they are not qualified/interested in reviewing the manuscript or do not have enough time to study it must immediately notify the editor and withdraw from the review process.
confidentiality
Any manuscripts received for review must be treated as confidential documents. Manuscripts must not be distributed or discussed with others unless authorized by the editor.
Objectivity Standards
Reviews must be carried out objectively. Personal criticism of the author is not appropriate to convey. Reviewers must state their views clearly with supporting arguments.
Source Acknowledgment
Reviewers must identify relevant published work that has not been cited by the author. A statement that an observation, derivation, or argument has been previously reported must be accompanied by a relevant citation. The reviewer must also notify the editor of any substantial similarities or overlap between the manuscript under consideration and any other published article.
Disclosure and Conflict of Interest
Information or ideas obtained in the review process must be kept confidential and not used for personal gain. Reviewers must reject manuscripts in which they have a conflict of interest resulting from competition, collaboration, or other relationships and connections with any of the authors, companies, or institutions associated with the manuscript.
Author assignment
Reporting Standards
Authors of original research reports must provide an accurate account of the work performed as well as an objective discussion of the significance of the research. Underlying data must be accurately included in the manuscript. A manuscript must contain sufficient detail and references to permit others to replicate the work. Reporting fraud or intentionally providing inaccurate information is unethical behavior and is unacceptable.
Data Access and Retention
Authors are required to provide raw data associated with the manuscript for editorial purposes, and must be prepared to provide public access to such data (consistent with the ALPSP-STM Statement on Data and Databases), if possible, and must in any case retain such data after publication.
Originality and Plagiarism
Authors should ensure that they have written entirely original work, and if the authors have used the work and/or words of others, these have been properly cited.
Multiple, Redundant and Concurrent Publishing
An author may not publish manuscripts that describe the essence of the same research in more than one journal or major publication. Submitting the same manuscript to more than one journal concurrently constitutes unethical publishing behavior and is unacceptable.
Source Acknowledgment
Proper acknowledgment of the work of others must always be given. Authors should cite publications that have been influential in determining the nature of the work to be reported.
List of Manuscript Authors
Authors should be limited to those who have made a significant contribution to the conception, design, conduct, or interpretation of the research being reported. Everyone who has made a significant contribution must be listed as a co-author. Persons or other parties who have participated in certain substantive aspects of the research project, they must be recognized or registered as contributors. Corresponding authors must ensure that all suitable authors are listed in the manuscript and no non-conforming authors, and that all authors have seen and approved the final version of the paper and have agreed to its submission for publication.
Hazards and Human or Animal Subjects
If the work involves chemicals, procedures or equipment that have unusual hazards inherent in their use, the author must clearly identify these in the manuscript.
Disclosure and Conflict of Interest
All authors must disclose in their manuscript any substantive or financial conflict of interest that might be construed to influence the results or interpretation of their manuscript. All sources of financial support for the project must be disclosed.
Fundamental Errors in Published Works
When the author discovers a significant error or inaccuracy in the published work, it is the author's obligation to immediately notify the editor of the journal or publisher and work with the editor to withdraw or correct the manuscript.
Policy of Screening for Plagiarism
All manuscripts must be free from plagiarism contents. All authors are suggested to use plagiarism detection softaware to do the similarity checking. Editors check the plagiarism detection of articles in this journal by using a Turnitin software.
Publication Frequency
Journal of Mechanical Engineering and Applied Technology (JMEAT) is published three times a year in April, August and December. For each year, the regular publishing schedule is as follows:
- Number 1: Publish March
- Number 2: Publish July
- Number 3: Publish November
