PROSES PACK CARBIRIZING PADA BAJA LUNAK LOKAL UNTUK KOMPONEN TENSILE LINK

Abstract


Tensile link adalah komponen pada mesin cutter Garbuio SD508 yang berfungsi menghubungkan penggerak dan pencekam pisau. Upaya perusahaan menekan biaya pengadaan suku cadang adalah dengan menggantikan komponen tersebut dengan menggunakan material baja lunak lokal. Karena sifat mekanis baja lokal lebih rendah komponen asli, maka umur pakainya lebih pendek. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah merekomendasikan penerapan proses pack carburizing pada material baja lunak lokal jenis ST40 agar sifat mekanik tensile link baja lunak lokal mendekati yang asli. Parameter penelitian adalah temperatur (800ºC, 900ºC dan 1000°C) dan holding time (1 jam, 2 jam, dan 3 jam), sedangkan grafit (C) sebesar 80% yang ditambah katalis kalsium karbonat (CaCO30) sebesar 20 % digunakan sebagai penambah kadar karbon pada spesimen. Metode penelitian meliputi studi pustaka, proses pack carburizing , uji spectrografi emisi, uji kuat tarik dan uji kekerasan. Nilai kekerasan baja lunak lokal adalah antara 76,75 HRB sampai 79,83 HRB sebelum proses pack carburizing. Nilai kekerasan ST40 setelah pack carburizing tertinggi adalah 109,86 HRB pada variasi temperatur 1000 ℃ dengan holding time 2 jam dan kekuatan tarik tertinggi adalah 753,2908 MPa pada variasi temperatur 900 ℃ dengan holding time 3 jam. Rekomendasi parameter pack carburizing adalah 800 ℃ dengan holding time 3 jam dengan nilai kekerasan 88,33 HRB dan kekuatan tarik 595,652 MPa karena paling mendekati kekerasan tensile link asli yaitu 98,785 HRB.
