Abstract


The education institution must carry out the education program well in accordance with the good management. This covers the aspect of organizing, actuating, coordinating, and controlling. These aspects then applied by having plans in composing curriculum, syllabus, sets of values, and sets of skills/competencies possessed by the students. After realizing these aspects in education program, the evaluation is done to look into whether the program runs well or not. To evaluate the program; any kinds of test or examination (whether the tests are oral or written or both) must be given to the students. The good tests must fulfill the criteria of validity and reliability. This research aims at measuring the scale of validity and reliability in test item of Business English 1 in Accounting Department Semarang State Polytechnic. Purposive sampling is used to make the specialization of respondents, i.e. the students whose class gets the materials of Business English 1.The data tends to be primary and quantitative coming from the test item of Business English 1 in Accounting Department either Mid-Test or Final Test in Odd Semester 2015/2016.The analysis is done by SPSS Program. The results show that the test item of Business English 1 fulfills the criteria of validity and reliability.
