Abstract

Desa Bareng, Jekulo sub-district, Kudus district is known as a center for wrought iron crafts with the products such as knives, machetes, hoes, rakes, punch, sickles, etc. with used steel raw material of car’s leaf spring and stainless steel plate waste. With very traditional forging methods that are still applied, forging product craftsmen must work harder to meet people's demands. This is caused by the two types of metal materials used to make forged products have a higher level of hardness and ductility than steel materials in general. besides to the material problems, the productivity of forging craftsmen is low because the ability of a craftsman to swing a forging hammer is only 40 to 50 swings per minute. The objective of the implementation Competitive Community Service 2021 is to increase the productivity of the forging craftsmen who are members of the NURI STEEL forging-crafting UMKM group by designing a forging machine with simple technology that is capable of swinging the forging hammer up to 100 strokes per minute. Implementers of the 2021 Competitive Community Service activities also held training to operate, maintain, and repair this simple forging machine and also held a simple management training to improve the MSME administration system.
