Abstract


Flood is one of the main problems in the city of Semarang. The city that is on the coast on one side and the mountains on the other makes the problem of flooding more complex. The existence of a fairly heavy flow of water from the hilly areas was not able to flow smoothly into the sea but instead was restrained by the presence of tidal water which had penetrated the mainland. These problems must be addressed comprehensively, both in the hills and in the coastal areas with each handling according to its characteristics.
Appropriate technology that is quite simple and considered effective enough to overcome the above flood problems is biopore infiltration wells. The basic principle of this biopore is to drain the falling rainwater to directly seep into the ground so that it will reduce surface water that causes flooding. Besides that, this biopore infiltration hole also has other advantages, namely it can convert organic waste into compost.
The result of this activity was to increase public knowledge in understanding the benefits of biopore holes to prevent flooding and the formation of biopore holes in people's homes. So with this, it is hoped that this will help prevent flooding with a lot of rainwater being absorbed into the soil in addition to obtaining added value from the production of compost formed from the utilization of the biopore holes.
