Abstract

The economic crisis that occurred in the United States, Greece, Turkey and the global COVID-19 pandemic situation has shown that every individual needs to prepare himself to remain empowered. In several aspects through financial regulations, Indonesia has provided relaxation to the market regarding public loans so that it does not get worse in the pandemic era. Low financial literacy can lead to being trapped in high-cost loans due to high consumerism in society. Therefore, it is necessary to have personal control to prevent individuals from being trapped in unprofitable and beneficial financial transactions. In this study using the Kruskal-Wallis Test, it was found that individual background (income, expenses, marital status) was influenced by saving behavior, financial decisions, characteristics of each individual, and their punctuality in paying bills. This shows that people with different amounts of income, expenses and marital status will affect their ability to save. So that the government cannot generalize policies if everyone has a different background because their financial capabilities are also different.
