Abstract

Changes in lifestyles and cultures of society today affect the impact of the amount of waste
production in abundance. Household organic waste production is increasingly abundant and
needs to get the attention of the surrounding community itself, because waste is not only borne
by the government but also the responsibility of the surrounding community in its environment.
If the waste is not handled properly, it will be disastrous for the environment around the
residence, because it will cause diarrheal disease, cause unpleasant odors, lots of mosquitoes
and look dirty. Therefore, the problem that arises is how to reduce the amount of waste
production in residential environments by processing organic waste by using the Tong
Komposter technique to become an economical value product and build a clean and healthy
environment. The implementation of Community Service activities was carried out in the
neighborhoods of the RW02 PKK Banyumanik Semarang to invite the public to care about their
living environment by building a clean and healthy environment by processing organic waste
into compost that has economic value with the technology of Komposter Tong. This
Community Service activity provides information about the importance of motivating people to
participate in waste management, training how to process organic waste into compost that has
economic value and asking PKK RW 02 Banyumanik Village Semarang to do direct practice on
how to process organic waste into fertilizer compost using the Tong Composter technique which
ends with the submission of the Komposter Tong to be distributed in each PKK RT mother and
its accessories.
