Analisis Faktor yang Mempengaruhi Pengambilan Keputusan Mahasiswa FE UNNES

Abstract


A lot of universities in Indonesia, both public and private, are forcing high school graduates who wish to continue their education to college to make a decision in choosing a college of their choice. Semarang State University (UNNES) is a public university that gains significant public interest. However, so far no detailed data about the factors that influence the applicants to choose UNNES as their College. In this study, researcher identified the factors that influence the students’ decision making in choosing UNNES for their study. There are 22 variables, consist of accreditation, academic achievement, non-academic achievements, web, information technology, the number of lecturers, quality of faculty, number of students, the quality of students, the condition of the physical facilities, the number of courses, the alumni capabilities, the cost of education, college location, condition of campus’ natural environments, the condition of the community around the campus, promotion, quality of service, speed of service, cultural, academic, student activities, the suitability of student interest with existing courses in UNNES. The target population of this research are active students of UNNES, taken from all existing courses during the research period by taking 400 samples using proportional sampling. There are 8 courses in this research, with 50 samples each. The analysis used in this research is the analysis of qualitative and quantitative analysis. Academic Culture, Student Activities, Student Academic Achievement, Student Quality, non Academic Achievements of the Students, are five variables that most influence the respondents respectively in taking the decision to choose UNNES as their college. Of the 22 variables studied by factor analysis, those could eventually be reduced to stay as much as 9 factors. Factor 1 consists of students non-academic achievement, Web, Total Program and Alumni Capabilities. Factor 2 consists of Student Activities and Program Compliance. Factor 3 consists of Accreditation and Academic Achievement. Factor 4 consists of Information Technology, Number of Lecturer, Speed of Services and Academic Culture. Factor 5 consists of the Cost of Education and Campus Locations. Factor 6 consists of Promotion and Quality of Service. Factors 7 consists of the Quality of Student and Physical Facilities. Factor 8 consists of the Natural Environment and Public Interest. Factor 9 consists of quality of lecturers and Number of Students.
